Total card spending decreased by 4% to €8.2 billion in June compared to May.
Central Bank figures show ATM transactions and point of sale transactions also fell by 4%.
There was an increase of 16% or just over €1.1 billion in card expenditure last month, compared to June 2021.
In person card spending outside Ireland went up 16% between May and June, or €66 million.
In the last year, that went up by 170% to €478 million.
