A price hike by Pinergy 'wasn't wholly unexpected'.
That's according to Darragh Cassidy from Bonkers.ie who says prices have begun to increase again at wholesale markets.
Pinergy will increase its electricity prices next month by 14 per cent for the typical household.
Darragh Cassidy says even though switching isn't as beneficial as before it's worth doing:
"You could still get a discount of maybe 10%, which is still pretty decent. And also because prices of gas and electricity are so high at the moment, that 10% discount is still worth around maybe 300 to 400 euro on the average bill. So I would absolutely be saying to people, even though the discounts on offer have reduced, it's still absolutely worthwhile to switch".
