A charity supporting military veterans is hoping to expand it's capacity to take in homeless members and offer them mental health supports in the coming four years.
The Organisation of National Ex-Service Personnel has launched it's strategy up to 2026, with hopes of securing sustainable government funding.
O.N.E. currently has properties in Dublin, Athlone, Letterkenny and Cobh with 57 bedrooms for homeless veterans.
Chief Executive Cormac Kirwan says that support is vital to help those who have completed military service to get back on their own two feet:
"We have veterans that have served the state both home and abroad, that are now sleeping homeless across the streets of Ireland. And it's our ambition, as a charity, to ensure we continue to develop the homes to take as many veterans off the streets and provide residential accommodation, and food, sustenance and the skill sets to enable them to transition as soon as possible back into independent living".
