A large variety of chocolate tubs and selection boxes are in many shops in the lead up the Christmas.
Dr Donal O'Shea has accused the food and drinks industry of stepping up their displays around Christmas, when they should be toning it down.
He believes there needs to be more regulation for sweets and chocolate displays, perhaps to the same levels as cigarettes:"Everything the food and drinks industry said they would start moving away from. They just seem to have stepped it up. And that's because there's lack of regulation. They can't help themselves. It's profit and it's this year's profit so they can't stop doing it."
