Ireland's cold snap looks to set to last into next week.
A national status yellow low temperature and ice warning is in place until midday today.
Met Éireann says low temperatures and ice could create "hazardous conditions".
Carlow Weather's Alan O'Reilly says the weekend will be extremely cold.
"The cold spell looks well looks at to continue well into next week now so a very cold weekend ahead with more freezing fog and very cold night temperatures and struggling to get above freezing during the day.
"And unfortunately it does look like the cold weather will continue into next week and a risk of some more wintry showers next week also.
