Ireland's first community air ambulance will be grounded next Friday.

The helicopter service run by Irish Community Rapid Response will fly its last missions from its base at Rathcoole Aerodrome near Millstreet on Arpil 3rd after fundraising efforts were hampered by the Covid-19 outbreak.

The service has flown over 350 mission since it was set up 8 months ago, however it has faced an uphill battle to keep the service in the air.

A fundraiser set up in December sought €400,000 in donations but has only raised just over €26,000 to date.

ICRR have sought immediate support from the government, however a spokesperson for the service says they have yet to receive a response.
