Construction and architecture courses have seen a 13% rise in CAO applications compared to last year.
Arts and humanities courses have also made a resurgence, increasing by 9% and 11% respectively.
However, most healthcare courses have seen substantial drops, nursing and midwifery is down 27% compared to 2021.
Guidance counsellor Brian Mooney welcomed the fact arts courses were going back up in popularity:
"Students are applying for the things they're genuinely interested in. Obviously arts and humanities, a huge positive opportunity right through as an arts graduate myself, that puts them in a position to be very flexible."
