The construction industry is adamant it can meet the housing need in Ireland, according to the Enterprise Minister.
The IDA's half-year report shows 139 foreign direct investments were "won" in the first six months of this year, creating a potential 12 thousand jobs.
However, it has warned the housing shortage is threatening Ireland's ability to attract investors.
Minister Simon Coveney says he has received assurances that the Government's target of 30 thousand new homes this year can be met:
The Construction Industry is adamant with me and with Government that they have the capacity to to deliver a lot more residential housing units if the conditions allow for that. Certainly the CIF is very strong on this because we ask the question all the time, do we have the capacity to get this done in terms of numbers? And the answer is, is yes."
