Consumer spending increases by 4% in June

Consumer spending rose by 4% during the month of June, despite a fall in transactions.

New data from AIB has found spending in pubs and off-licences went up by 47c on average, with a 45c increase in restaurants.

Hotels saw the largest month-to-month growth, with spend increasing by 11%.

Overall, prices rose by 9.1% in the year to June 2022, the largest increase in 38 years.
