Cork based fishermen are meeting with the Russian Ambassador to Ireland at 11.30 this morning.
The group say they want proposed military exercises 240 kilometres off the coast of Cork to be moved to a different area as they fear they will disrupt the migration and breeding season of fish.
The Irish South and West Fish Producers Organisation said on Tuesday that they would consider disrupting next months live-fire exercise by fishing in nearby waters.
Foreign Affairs Minister Simon Coveney said the Russian plans are 'not welcome' and Taoiseach Micheál Martin has also expressed his concern.
