The cost of a home in Ireland has increased by over 20 percent in some parts of the country.

That's according to a new survey which examines property prices in each county.

Rural Ireland experienced a significant price surge, due to the flexibility of remote working.

Mark Keenan, property editor for the Irish Independent says not everyone wants to live in the country, with Cork city centre being seen as a "very trendy" area:

"He saw prices in the city centre area of Cork rise by 7%, according to our local experts on the ground. First time buyers are now dominating that city centre area, looking for smaller starter terraced houses or apartments to get that foot on the ladder. Of course the centre of Cork has been livening up recent years and getting very trendy and that's where they want to live."
