Three in 10 adults are less likely to go to a doctor this winter because of the cost of living crisis.

That's one of the main findings of the Pfizer Health and Science Index published today.

Younger age groups, between 18 and 24, are even more likely to put off a trip to the doctor, at 49%.

Director of Advocacy and External Affairs at the Irish Cancer Society, Rachel Morrogh say they're concerned people will delay health checks over costs.

"The cost of living is actually putting additional pressures on people, and they are saying that they're going to make choices, which puts their health on the backburner while they spend money on things that they can't afford, like fuel, like transport, like electricity, all the things that we're talking about to our friends at the moment and saying, 'have you got that bill and how much was it?'

"They're saying they need to prioritise them, and they're not going to put their health first."
