Cork county councillors have hit out at threatening messages they received over the Pipers Funfair debate in Kinsale.
It comes Fine Gael Councillor John O'Sullivan says 6 councillors in the Bandon Kinsale Municipal District received a threatening email last Sunday.
Cork County Council was seeking a €60,000 bond from the organisers to hold the fun fair and people took to the streets of Kinsale to protest in April after the organisers were against paying the full amount of the bond, but did agree to pay €30,000.
Speaking to RedFM News, Councillor John O'Sullivan says that councillors worked to have the bond reduced to €30,000 but organisers of Pipers Funfair still refused to pay it:
"We're in a no win situation at this stage really, despite the fact that the members would like to see the funfair and we went to extraordinary lengths and spent significant time in negotiating and trying to put it there, but like, we do feel that nobody has recognised what was done by the members of the municipal district. And we just seem to be looked like we've been made the punching bag for what's happening."
