A court has heard a former RTÉ producer travelled to the Philippines in 2014 for the purpose of sexually abusing a child.
Kieran Creaven, of Adelaide Street in Dún Laoghaire, came to Garda attention after he was arrested in the UK following a sting operation by a vigilante group.
Courts Correspondent Frank Greaney has this report for RedFM News, which some listeners may find distressing:
"In 2017, Kieran Creaven travelled to Leeds to meet a teenage girl he had been chatting to on Facebook.
However, it turned out he was actually chatting to a member of a vigilante group called Predator Exposure, who were instead waiting for him when he arrived.
On the back of his arrest, Gardaí searched his home in Dublin.
Forensic searches of his electronic devices, emails and online chat platforms revealed explicit conversations with children.
The court heard he sent unsolicited images and videos.
Two videos were also found on a memory stick which showed him abusing a young girl in a bedroom in the Philippines in October 2014.
The 59yo, who used to work as a sports producer at RTÉ, will be sentenced early next month."
