The Minister for Foreign Affairs is due before an Oireactas Committee this morning as the controversy continues over the appointment of Katherine Zappone to a special envoy role.
Simon Coveney will answer further questions after text messages showed he offered Ms Zappone the UN job four months before it was agreed by Cabinet.
Katherine Zappone eventually declined the role following criticism over the appointment process and her hosting of a controversial event at the Merrion Hotel.
Gary Gannon, Social Democrats TD and member of the Foreign Affairs Committee, says the minister needs to provide a clear timeline of events.
"What I'd like to simply get from him is just some truth at this point.
"This is their second time at the foreign affairs committee, and every time they release more information all it seems to lead to is more questions.
"I would actually like to bring some finality too the situation - in order to do that Minister Coveney is going to have to be very clear about the timeline of events."
