Defence Minister Simon Coveney has ordered an external investigation into a gathering at an Army barracks during Covid lockdown restrictions.
The event is alleged to have taken place in an outdoor area of McKee barracks in Dublin in June of 2020, when up to 40 Defence Forces personnel gathered for a barbeque.
At the time outdoor gatherings were limited to just 15 people.
It was alleged last week that a female member of the Defence Forces was sexually assaulted by a senior officer at the event. That is now the subject of a Military Police investigation.
