Crunch talks will take place today aimed at reducing emissions in the agriculture sector.
Climate Action Minister Eamon Ryan will meet with Agriculture Minister Charlie McConalogue in a bid to hammer out an agreement.
Government last year set out plans for a 22 to 30 per cent cut in the sectors emissions by 2030.
However there's disagreement between the Green Party and its coalition colleagues on what the exact figure should be.
Junior Agriculture Minister and Green Party Senator, Pippa Hackett, says agriculture needs to plays its part as the country seeks to cut emissions.
"We have a huge challenge ahead in terms of reducing our greenhouse gas emissions across the economy.
"The big sectors are energy, transport and agriculture. It's essentially one big jigsaw, and it's essential that we get the jigsaw pieces in the right places, and certainly by doing that we must ensure that we bring the farming community with us, and to do so in a way that strengthens farm incomes and builds resilience for the future."
