Dairy farmers say the cost of fuel and fertiliser supplies are a concern if they're going to plant crops.
The Agriculture Minister's called a meeting tomorrow where he will ask farmers to plant grains.
It is an attempt to offset food security worries across Europe, as Russia's invasion of Ukraine has impacted supplies from both nations.
Pat McCormack’s the President of the Irish Creamery Milk Suppliers Association, he says the price of fuel and fertiliser are a worry:
"The VAT obviously is a huge issue on fuel, from a fertiliser perspective I think we need to examine it. We need to get the best possible advice to get the best possible utilisation or whatever fertiliser is used in the 2022 season. Obviously the availability of fertiliser at this point in time has become hugely challenging also."
