There has been a decrease in students from disadvantaged areas going on to college.
It comes as the traditional Leaving Cert returned this year following two years of predicted and hybrid grades.
Up to 64% of students from DEIS schools went to college last year, compared to 60% this year.
Brian Mooney, Education Columnist with The Irish Times thinks its to do with social class rather than school differences:
"Most users going to college from particular schools, you'll find a variety of fee paying, for instance, or jobs an area for you to go on and MacBooks would be in among them and they're not the same as indistinguishable in terms of progression opportunities for their students."
