The Department of Foreign Affairs says it's providing consular assistance to an Irish woman who's been charged by police in Dubai.

Tori Towey, who's originally from Co Roscommon, was charged with attempting suicide and consuming alcohol following an alleged attack by her husband.

The 28-year-old flight attendant is currently staying in an Airbnb with her mother, who's travelled from Ireland to be with her.

CEO of Detained in Dubai, Radha Stirling says Tory's family is now desperate to get her back home:

"Tori moved out to Dubai last July, and had severe injuries, and then after that, there was a Natori moved out to Dubai last year to pursue an aviation career. She was working as cabin crew for Emirates Airlines, and she ended up marrying a South African man. Things went south very quickly, and he became physically abusive to her. The abusive to her. She went to hospital and had severe injuries, and then after that, there was another assault. and she broke free ran up to the bathroom, and she was taken to the police station, and actually charged with attempted suicide and consuming alcohol."
