This comes after a study by Trinity College Dublin and Queens University Belfast showed electric vehicle supports disproportionately benefit the wealthy.
Only a limited proportion of the population has the means to purchase new private vehicles, with most people relying on second-hand cars.
The second-hand market for electric vehicles in Ireland remains small.
Minister for Transport Eamon Ryan says Ireland is at the forefront of going electric in Europe:
"We were ahead of the curve on this, like we were probably one of the first countries that developed a charging network. We're about to publish a strategy particularly for the charging infrastructure and we'll go out to the public to ask them their views. And particularly when you look at the charging infrastructure, you can influence how you meet the gaps, particularly areas that maybe they won't have easy access, they won't have their own driveway."
