The Department of Transport is reportedly in talks to get work permits for non EU bus drivers for the first time.
According to the Irish Times, this is an attempt to ease the recruitment crisis, particularly for public transport drivers.
Go Ahead Ireland and Dublin Bus recently apologised for service problems, with some buses appearaing on trackers as cancelled or not showing up at all.
Both companies blamed drivers shortages as well as technical issues for those issues.
