Details of the National Fuel Allowance Scheme for the upcoming winter season have been announced this morning.
Around 404,000 households will benefit from the means-tested allowance.
"This payment is made by way of two instalments of €462 each, or at the weekly rate of €33 across 28 weeks. Subject to a means test, a single person, over 70, can have income of €500 euro per week, while a couple can have income of €1000 per week".
