There's been a 56% increase in domestic abuse incidents in five years.
There were almost 34,500 incidents this year, compared with close to 22,000 in 2017.
Fine Gael TD Alan Farrell, who requested the figures from the Department of Justice, has described it as an epidemic.
Mary McDermott, CEO of Safe Ireland, says she's not surprised by the numbers.
"In 2017 the reported incidents stood at about 22,000, and they are now at over 34,000.
"I suppose the real question is, if they were the 2017 figures of 22,000 would they be any more acceptable? And the answer is no.
"It's shocking, it's continuous and it's epidemic, but it's been epidemic for a very long time."
