Domestic abuse is one of the most hidden crimes in society and it needs to be reported.
So far in 2022, 49 thousand 257 people reported an incident of domestic abuse to Gardaí.
That's compared to the 48 thousand 400 incidents reported last year.
CEO the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre, Noeline Blackwell, says its really important for people to get help:
"All of us have to remember we have a duty not to abuse somebody else, whether we're taking a drink, whether we're on our holidays or not. There is no excuse for domestic or sexual violence. It simply should not be happening. Those who carry it out, really need to cop themselves on and recognise that this is abuse of another human being".
