Drivers are being urged to look out for motorcyclists as 11 have died on the roads so far this year.
Improving weather conditions attract more motorcyclists.
Speaking ahead of the May Bank Holiday, RSA Regional Manager of Driver Testing Stefan Auler says the number of deaths is stark:
"There is a rise so far. I mean we had 11 fatalities so far, and 5 of them in March, which overall is 21% of all fatalities, which is huge. It's hard to put your finger on it. At the moment, what we see as an awful lot of young people taking up motorcycle riding as well. I don't know if it's the fuel prices, I'm not sure, but it seems to be a cheaper option and even for commuting, it's a better option. So I think, it has risen the number of people actually riding motorbikes".
