A Dublin gangland criminal has been jailed for 21 years in the UK.

54 year old Thomas Kavanagh, of Tamworth in Staffordshire, who is originally from Dublin, was described as the head of the organisation that imported drugs worth 35 million euro into the UK.

He was sentenced today at Ipswich Crown Court, along with two other men.

39 year old Gary Vickery of Solihull was sentenced to 20 years, while 43-year-old Daniel Canning, also with an address in Solihull, was jailed for 19 years and 6 months.

All three had admitted at an earlier hearing to conspiring to import class A and B drugs, and money laundering.

Judge Martyn Levett said the operation was of a "commercial scale".
