Proposed changes around 'duty of care', a key component of government insurance reform plans, have been given the green light.
The changes mean it could be easier for businesses, clubs and community groups to secure insurance and cheaper premiums
Justice Minister Helen McEntee was granted Cabinet approval to make necessary changes, aimed at rebalancing personal responsibility and occupier liability.
The Alliance for Insurance Reform has welcomed the move.
Director of the Alliance, Peter Boland, says it would be a massive boost for small businesses, charities and sports clubs.
"There are lot of moving parts within the insurance sector that needed to be addressed, and this has always been a key one from our perspective.
"We very much welcome the direction this reform is going in."
