A €1.2m contract has been signed for major relief works to be completed in Dunmanway.
Cork County Council has appointed contractors to undertake a programme of works that will reduce flooding on Chapel Street during heavy rainfall.
Local councillors said the town had been flooded three times in 2021 likened it to ‘driving over the Giants Causeway'.
The work will take 7 months to complete and involve replacing water sewers along with the installation of traffic calming measures and new footpaths.
