It comes amid warnings that male students could be at a significant disadvantage if the plans are introduced due to their maturity levels.
It was announced last March pupils entering 5th year in September 2023 would sit the exams at the end of that school year.
Education Minister Norma Foley says the fact that students will be sitting the exams at the end of 5th year will be factored into the marking scheme:
"The paper obviously will reflect the fact that the paper is being taken at the end of one year rather than the end of two year. There will be remodelling and reshaping of paper, one in English and in Irish so as to ensure that any of the issues that have been raised will be factored in and will be accounted for."
