Efforts to form a government are continuing today, as Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil meet a number of Independent TDs.

The two parties produced a document last week that would form the basis of a government, but are eight TDs short of a majority.

The Greens are also meeting today to discuss whether they're interested in supporting an administration.

Clare TD Michael McNamara is one of the Independents meeting Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil's negotiators today.

"I want to hear what they have to say on what their documents mean - it's quite voluminous but it's quite vague.

"In particular balanced regional development and what does that mean and balanced in what sector - does that include the aviation sector?

"I mean we've had this huge concentration of the aviation sector into one airport which I think hasn't been beneficial to the country at large, and might not be feasible at least in the medium term."
