Efforts are underway to give patients the best quality of life after a cancer diagnosis.

The HSE is raising awareness of its Cancer Thriving and Surviving Programme today.

The HSE is marking National Cancer Survivors' Day by a new programme which empowers patients as they finish their treatment.

There are over 200,000 cancer survivors in Ireland at the moment.

The Implementing Cancer Thriving and Surviving Report outlines a self-management programme to help them achieve their best possible health outcome.

It supports all cancer survivors with their post-treatment recovery.

Participants can attend weekly workshops over a 6-week period.

It supports them as they finish their treatment and transition to survivorship and it's free to all cancer patients regardless of where they live.
