The Emergency Department at Wexford General Hospital has officially reopened.
It was forced to close on March 1st following a large fire at the facility.
However, as of nine o'clock this morning, operations have started again.
Cllr Michael Sheehan expects displaced patients will be returning to Wexford General in the coming days:
"I think over the next couple of days you will see the pressures easing up as staff make their way back to work in Wexford and patients are now back doing their appointments and going to the A&E in Wexford as opposed to Waterford and Kilkenny. So I think there'll be a lightening of the load over time. And then there'll be a way of getting people who are in beds in both Kilkenny and Waterford getting back to Wexford over the next couple of days or weeks."
