It's hoped hosting Euro 2028 games will have an overall benefit for soccer in Ireland.
The Government is set to submit a bid, alongside the UK, to host some of the 2028 tournament.
If successful, Ireland would host up to seven games across the Aviva Stadium and Croke Park.
It's thought some minor upgrades would be needed at the Aviva, while more significant works would need to be done in Croke Park.
Environment Minister, Eamon Ryan, hopes a successful 2028 bid would spur on a new generation of footballers, similar to Italia '90:
"We have got a lot of people playing and got a huge interest in the sport and after the end, well then that leads on I think to people investing in facilities so I think it can help soccer in the country and can be good for the country, so I would support it."
