The Environment Minister says some individuals, publications and groups are not serving the best interests of farmers, by quashing science published by the EPA.
It's after they questioned the methodology used in a new Water Quality report for 2022, published by the Environmental Protection Agency.
The report found nitrate concentrations "remain too high in waters in the south-east, south-west and midlands and eastern regions".
Speaking in Carlow this afternoon, Minister Eamon Ryan says we need to 'stick to the science':
"I don't believe and I'm not going to point fingers at any one individual or any one organisation, but the likes The Farmers Journal, maybe just take that as an example coming out and others saying the EPA science is not accurate and not correct. I don't think that's true. I don't think that's serving the Irish farming community. Let's stick to the science. But let's also not fall out into a divisive country, where it's one section of the country versus the other".
