There was a 7 per cent increase in carbon emissions in the industrial sector last year.
The Environmental Protection Agency says they also rose by 21 per cent in the electricity-generation industry.
They increased by 11 per cent in aviation, as the travel sector began to recover from the Covid pandemic.
The EPA's Maria Walsh says that was also a factor in the increase in industrial emissions.
