The European Commissioner for Health has urged people to get vaccinated to protect against a further wave of the virus.
Stella Kyriakides was speaking in Dublin on a visit to St James' Hospital.
Her comments come as Tánaiste Leo Varadkar has warned the country could be at the start of a 'summer wave' of Covid-19.
Commissioner Stella Kyriakides says people shouldn't wait until a wave picks up to get their booster vaccines:
"For those who are eligible for their boosters or need to complete the vaccine program, not to wait thinking if something else is coming out in six months I can wait. They need to complete their vaccination cycle now. We are seeing a spike, this is not only in Ireland, we're monitoring it very closely."
