A three day event to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement begins today in Queens University, Belfast.
Former US President Bill Clinton, former Taoiseach Bertie Ahearn and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair will be in attendance this afternoon.
It's hoped the commemoration will generate a pathway of restoration of the political institutions in the North.
Speaking to Beat news, former Sinn Féin leader Gerry Adams says the Republic needs to be clear in its relationship with the British Government.
"I think it's up to the Irish Government, if the Irish Government is not making it clear to the British Government that it's a co-equal guarantor and partner to the Good Friday Agreement, then inevitably British Governments like the current one will do what it always does, it will dither, it won't keep to commitments.
"There's a big onus on An Taoiseach."
