3000 staff employed by Facebook in Ireland are expected to find out this morning if their jobs will be cut..
The company is reportedly due to make an announcement at 11 Irish time, where it's expected to outline thousands of job cuts to it's global workforce of over 85,000 people.
It's believed 100 people work in Cork's Meta offices, and are based on the top of the Capitol Building on Grand Parade
It was reported in September that Meta the parent company of Facebook was planning to cut expenses by at least 10 per cent in part through staff reductions.
Technology Correspondent Jess Kelly said Mark Zuckerberg has taken full responsibility for the difficult position the company finds itself in.
"Mark Zuckerberg told hundreds of executives on Tuesday that he was responsible for the company's missteps.
"He had over optimism about the growth that led to overstaffing.
"We're expecting an internal communication to take place up meta at 11am Irish time that will inform the staff if they've been impacted by these job cuts."
