There's pent up demand for Irish festivals, which will lead to a bumper year for tourism, according to Failte Ireland.
They have announced the return of the Global Irish Festival Series, which aims to bring members of the diaspora home to celebrate with their families.
The scheme was introduced in 2018, but was postponed over the past 2 years due to the pandemic.
The initiative will see festivals run in Mayo, Donegal, Limerick and Kerry later this year.
Head of Festivals with Failte Ireland, Ciara Sugrue, says the series will help get the tourism industry back on track:
"We're very optimistic that, certainly, we will see the return of big numbers back to Ireland this year. And we know that there is pent up demand. Our numbers are looking very strong for the summer. And we're very hopeful that we will be climbing back up towards those 2019 figures".
