There are fears for more Irish tech jobs this morning.
Microsoft, which employs around 3,500 people here, is reportedly about to axe 5% of its 220 thousand strong global workforce.
Tánaiste Micheál Martin says dealing with job losses in the sector is challenging, but the government's committed to holding onto economic growth.
"More broadly speaking there's been a very significant growth of technology jobs over the last two and a half years, well over 30,000.
"Obviously there's a correction of that going on at the moment in terms of the technology sector world wide, and obviously that impacts across the board.
"Our economy is still strong, our employment figures are very very strong.
"The challenge for us now is that we continue to manage throughout 2023 with economic growth."
LinkedIn, which employs over 2,000 people in Ireland, is owned by Microsoft.
Sharon McCooey, head of Linkedin Ireland, says talk of job losses is only speculation at the moment.
"I can't comment on a rumour.
"LinkedIn are independently run and managed, we very much are like every company continuing with critical hires right now, and responsibly managing our own budgets."
