Some Gardaí are quitting the force early due to burnout and stress, according to a representative body.
It's after new figures show almost 400 officers have resigned prematurely in less than five years.
The numbers have increased sharply recently with 95 last year, compared to 77 in 2018.
President of the Garda Representative Association, Brendan O'Connor, says poor working conditions are a factor:
"Internal research that was carried out by our own management, which was the cultural audit this year highlighted people that are feeling burned out and stress that and in the profile of people who are leaving a lot of them are people who we see in busy urban centers and anecdotally, we hear evidence of young girls actually coming in and their days off to do paperwork because the days that are working there or maybe on a response car pulling from called called called can't get the paperwork done."
