The Finance Minister says factors within the global economy could stunt Ireland's GDP growth.

However Paschal Donohue says they're currently forecasting further growth in the next two years, despite it being at a slower rate.

CSO figures published last week show GDP grew by over 6% in the first three months of the year down from the 10.8% originally estimated.

Minister Donohue admits it's difficult to predict the economy at the moment.

"It is particularly difficult to form a view regarding what could happen to GDP in the future. I think it is still very possible that we would see GDP grow, but we would see it grow at a slower rate. But in other measures of how we would look at our economy, it is a risk. Is it a risk that is materializing at the moment? No. But could things happen elsewhere in the global economy later on this year that could trigger trigger these risks? The answer's yes."
