Flood waters recede in the city but traders left reeling as OPW Minister stresses urgency of flood relief scheme

The OPW Minister has pleaded with those objecting to the Lower Lee Flood Relief Scheme to withdraw their objections.

It follows severe flooding in the city this morning which has left many traders on Oliver Plunkett St and adjoining streets devastated with stock contaminated by flood waters and damage caused to shop fronts.

Flood waters have receded this afternoon but the clean up operation in the city is continuing with council crews on the ground.

Speaking to RedFM News OPW Minister Patrick O'Donovan says there can be no more delays as people's lives and livelihoods are at risk:

Gordon Walker of 45 Clothes store on Oliver Plunkett St says they were lucky their stock was up so high as they might be able to salvage the last few hours before they have to shut their doors for Level 5 lockdown:
