Gardai appeal for witnesses to Ballincollig assault.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses after an assault in Ballincollig.

A man in his 30s was taken to hospital after the incident on Innishmore Drive in the town on Monday evening.

Another man in his 30s, and a woman in her 20s, were arrested and have since been released without charge.

A file is being prepared for the DPP and Gardaí are asking for anyone with information to come forward.

A statement from Gardai reads:

"Gardaí attended the scene of an alleged assault on Innishmore Drive, Ballincollig Co. Cork yesterday evening, Monday 12th June 2023 at approximately 7.45p.m.

"A man, aged in his 30s, was removed from the scene to Cork University Hospital to be treated for injuries which are believed to be non-life threatening.

"In a follow up search of the area, a man (30s) and a woman (20s) were arrested in connection with this incident and conveyed to a Garda Station in Cork city where they were detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

"The man and woman have since been released without charge and a file will now be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

"Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this assault to come forward.

"Any road users and pedestrians who may have camera footage (including dash cam) and were in the area of Innishmore Drive between 7.30pm and 8pm yesterday evening are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.

"Anyone with any information is asked to contact Bishopstown Garda station on 021 462 4500, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station."
