A gardai was hit by a car after it was stopped on the M1 yesterday

Cliona O'Dwyer has this report for RedFM News:

'The car was stopped on the northbound carriageway of the M1 motorway near Junction 20 at around a quarter to 2 yesterday afternoon, during routing speed checks.

At first it stopped for gardai, but when a garda got out of his patrol car to speak to the driver, it it hit him as it took off.

The guard was brought by ambulance to Our Lady of Lourde's Hospital where he's being treated for serious, but non life-threatening injuries.

The driver and car have not yet been found.

Gardaí at Dundalk are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

They're also asking road users with camera footage including dash-cam who were there at the time to make it available to investigators.'
