Gardaí have described the scene of a crash in County Carlow on Wednesday night as "horrific".
The three people killed in the collision on the N80 at Leagh have been named as Daryl Culbert, Michael Kelly and Katie Graham.
A man in his 20s is being treated for serious but non-life threatening injuries at St. Luke's General Hospital in Kilkenny.
Speaking outside Carlow Garda Station, Superintendent Anthony Farrell is making this appeal:
"An Garda Síochána are exploring all different avenues of investigation. We are making a media appeal for people who might have been on the Wexford Rd. area of the town. It's believed that the car might have been a Junction 5 Circle K/Tinryland. And might have left there to go to Ballin just before the accident. That’s a strong line of investigation”.
Carlow/ Kilkenny TD John McGuinness is expressing his condolences to their families after the tragic crash:
The sympathies of all of us go out now to the families who have lost a loved ones, in what is a tragedy, an awful car crash. The young man in hospital - we wish him well and hope he has a full recovery”.
