Gardai are investigating after the discovery of a second set of skeletal remains in the east Cork area over the past 18 months.
Remains of a child were found in the Killeagh area on Friday and officers say they are following a definite line of enquiry.
It follows the discovery of the body of a woman in January of last year, along the old railway line outside of Midleton.
Ralph Riegel is the southern correspondent with the Irish Independent, and says it's not thought the two cases are linked.
"Despite DNA tests and extensive forensic examination Gardai are still trying to determine the identity of that individual.
"There does not appear to be any apparent connection between these two discoveries."
