Gardaí still have a number of hours to question a woman about the murder of Kyran Durnin.

The little boy - from Dundalk in Co. Louth - was reported missing last August but Gardaí believe he was murdered in May or June of 2022.

A woman in her 20's was detained in Co. Louth yesterday. She was known to Kyran and reportedly recently arrived back to Ireland by ferry.

Conor Gallagher - Crime Correspondent with the Irish Times - is not expecting any major developments in the case in the coming days.

"People I've been speaking to have cautioned against expecting a major breakthrough in the case, or cautioned against expecting anyone to be charged with murder in the coming days. They said this is a step along the way, and it's an important step, but that there is a lot of work to be done. We have to remember, of course, the remains of Kyran have still not been located"
