A report that finds significant failings in how the gardai handled emergency calls, will be published today.

It was commissioned by the Policing Authority, after thousands of 999 calls weren't dealt with properly.

This controversy relates to the cancellation of nearly 23,000 calls made to emergency services in 2019 and 2020.

Over 3,000 related to domestic violence.

Many were cancelled without a proper policing response.

The Policing Authority commissioned a report into the issue.

It’s been carried out by Derek Penman, a former assistant chief constable of Police Scotland.

The Policing Authority says the report is due to be published today and will be discussed during a public meeting with the Garda Commissioner, Drew Harris, in Dublin Castle this afternoon.
